Ok ok I’m laughing at you calling out Pinterest on being a little behind the times. Do we think it’s because there are swaths of the country that realistically pick up on trends much later than peak? Like my friend who said “I think I want a pair of red sneakers.” 😂

I LOVE your predictions, especially deer!! Do I need that deer fur coat? No, but do I love it? Yes.

Hey, somebody’s gotta do it! I think it’s a combo of that, a sort of trickle down from influencers, and the use of AI… they’re reporting on increased search terms, so it’s things that are already happening? Idk, could be wrong, I’m no expert on data analysis

And I have the exact same feeling about that coat. It’s insane in the best way, and the silhouette!

I will never read a Pinterest trend report again.

I just hate the AI report… it’s lacking the human nuance to realize this isn’t trend predicting, it’s just current trends

Ohhhhh so with you on the cinching and pleating fabric being huge!! Idk why I cannot get into dear print?? Assuming this has to do with it feeling like a weird nod to youthful gamine/almost coquette stuff that just generally is not my vibe, but excited to see how others style it (and then inevitably suddenly be into it in 6 months lol)

I think it'll also catch on as a way to self-tailor clothing to fit us better without actually using a tailor... the fashion version of kintsugi! 1. we can use and reimagine what we already have in our closets and 2. it's an excuse to add adornments... Also I get it on the deer front, it's very very niche and if not done correctly just looks like sad polka dots lol

Sooo true, esp as resale becomes more popular than ever (and also just bcs a lot of new stuff is so poorly constructed now too lol)!!

I’ll be posting my 90s lobster brooch tomorrow! A thoroughly enjoyable read, Kendall, thank you! I’ve done most of these-cowgirl was one I did for at least 10 years, and it’s fun to see them come around again.

Ohhh I can’t wait to see it!!! I love hearing about everyone’s own fashion history memories, I hope you kept some of your western wear!

Ha, yes, I still have a fringed suede jacket, cowboy boots and a bolo tie!

Fantastic list! It makes me wonder why trend forecasting is even a thing anymore with the speed at which trends are shaped on social. So happy to have found your stack.

At this point it’s just about making the most money with as little effort as possible. The quicker the trend cycle, the more we have to scramble to buy buy buy to keep up… maybe very nihilistic but hey, if the shoe fits. Thanks for being here!

This was so fun!! I love the deer print especially. Ironically, earlier this summer I wrote about my unlikely style accounts and fishermen was one of them. Growing up in coastal MA at one for the biggest fishing ports in the country, I got to see a lot of great hand knit sweaters. It’s funny to me it’s a trend now, but also I get it. 🤷‍♀️

Oh that sounds beautiful! As a northeast girl myself, I too get the allure… but I’m hoping this is one trend that encourages vintage shopping! Old wool sweaters are so much better than the sad acrylic we have now
