I’ve been reading a bunch of articles about the danger of algorithmic personal style, especially as we move into Fall 2025. I have to admit, I’ve definitely fallen victim to it in the past. Lately, I’m really trying to move toward self-discovery and dressing in a way that FEELS good and right for me (I know that sounds cliché and a little cringe, but it’s true).

In a world where we’re constantly surrounded by influence, it’s harddd, but I think I’m starting to build the toolkit to get there! Really enjoyed this read.

You're way ahead of a lot of people! Realizing your own style takes time, and I know I've fallen victim to the instagram "inspired" outfits because I felt overwhelmed. Thanks for reading and for your thoughtful response!

Great read!!! We use AI and online tools out of convenience, so that we can make time for "other things". And it turns out the "other things" are just scrolling on your phone...

The brain is a muscle, and the more we use AI to do the leg work for us, the weaker we get.

Guilty of the free time phone scroll🤦🏻‍♀️ but at least we’re realizing that freeing ourselves from the devices is actually how we should be experiencing the world

“They're trying to convince people they can't do the things they've been doing easily for years - to write emails, to write a presentation. Your daughter wants you to make up a bedtime story about puppies - to write that for you." THIS! 100%! I’ve been telling everyone in my life that ChaptGPT et al. are about to become what CGI is for movie buffs— a vaguely artificial sheen on things that used to feel authentic. Ugh

That is SUCH a good comparison... it just upsets me that people are so eager to outsource the creative parts of the process! I'm glad I'm not alone

Fellow anti-AI here 🙋‍♀️ and I think the comparison to highly processed food is a good one. For some, they love it, they don’t care what a banana tastes like because banana taffy is good enough. For me, I want the real thing. The use of AI when writing is particularly mind-boggling to me because I write as a form of creative self-expression. Giving that up would trap me with all my thoughts and feelings; NO THANKS!!

Exactly! It's close ENOUGH, so it's pretty much good. (I am a sucker for a banana taffy, you can pry it from my cold dead hands) And thank you!! I knew there were more of us out there. What's the point in writing if i'm not saying anything for myself? I see our newsletters as part journal, part community building, so why would i want to give away the most human part of the whole process?

I’m skeptical of AI and what it will do to our minds. Already people are getting procedures done to look «perfect» like the models. What will happen when the appearance of the AI generated model is the goal?!? Also, I had a friend visiting last week and she said she uses AI to write her emails, presentations and reports. The whole company is on an AI platform. First, I’m thinking security. Next, can’t we even write our own emails now? It’s not like they need to be Pulitzer level anyway. Aren’t we supposed to use our brains and skills at all - how will we ever learn, improve and evolve? Rant over. 😅

Thank you for ranting, it makes me feel seen! How did we get here!? Why are people defending the loss of brain capacity!? I’m glad I’m not alone in my despair (dramatic? Me? Maybe)

Also anti-AI, Kendall! Against using it for creative purposes, as creativity is what makes us human. We need to experiment, to take chances, to reach…and to fail. Not every collection will land, and not every outfit will succeed, but the ones that do keep us pushing the envelope.

Excellent article.💕

Exactly!! The fails are what make the wins feel so much better! And there’s a feeling when it all clicks in your brain and you finally figure it out that a computer just can’t replicate! Thank you for reading:)

So interesting about Ai 🤖 Ai has taking over the world but I think we need to use our heads - Ai is a great took tool to assist not to take over real outfits and creativity matter

I saw a TT yesterday that was heralding the “end of Miu Miu” bc of this campaign and I’m like this exact TikTok is the problem. No one can think for themselves anymore?! It’s also a LOT of pandering in general happening in fashion these days and I want out of that cycle!

I’m realizing tiktok may be my nemesis… too many people parroting certain talking points and too many other people taking them as gospel. Miu miu is by no means going anywhere (the Sydney Sweeney and Alix Earle fans are too numerous) but like you said, there’s just so much pandering. Give me a creative campaign! A collab that isn’t just for collabs sake? They felt so fresh and cool just a few seasons ago but they haven’t kept up with the momentum on the creative side

This piece was incredibly thoughtful. Thank you for challenging the internet to think about personal style, writing, and so much more! Let’s use our creative minds and step away from AI. Let’s research! Let’s type! Let’s learn from each other!

The saddest thing about the Miu Miu campaign case is that the Emma Corrin ads didn’t bring financial traction, meanwhile Kylie did. Most luxury clients don’t care about the runway vision, and were puzzled by seeing Corrin (with no idea who she is). Kylie needs no introduction, meaning the (luxury) masses will love her in any campaign without a second thought.

This is exactly what I hate:( I get why they did it from a financial and exposure standpoint, but it just feels lazy when other brands are so masterfully revamping their branding. But alas, clicks rule the world
