If you read my post last week about accessorizing, you might think why are you going back to plain old necklaces? Well, these necklaces are anything but plain. You probably also read that last year I got a bit too wrapped up in growing my treasure trove of rings, eschewing other important pieces in my tunnel visioned state of mind, so this year I’m giving a bit more love to my necklace collection (or lack thereof). I wear two necklaces, both gold, both from Mejuri, and that’s actually all I own, aside from a very few vintage costume pieces that I can no longer wear because I am allergic to something terrible in them.
Multi Station Diamond Necklace - $498; Vermeil Linked Necklace - $148
These are the two necklaces I wear every day. I don’t think I’ve even taken off the diamond necklace since I got it as a gift three years ago. I am not very good about changing my jewelry apparently, but I have a few fabulous finds currently on the wishlist that have sparked the desire to change this.
Necklace stacking is both an excuse to show off all your hard work sourcing and collecting, and a great way to add color and personality to an otherwise minimal look. For the days when I just want to throw on a tshirt and jeans, necklaces can take the look from boring to elevated. I’ve kept it safe with my go-to Mejuri and The M Jewelers (which I did not previously mention because their quality leave a bit to be desired - every piece I have bought from them tarnishes in weeks and every single ring is missing stones) and I’ve noticed on Substack chats that Dorsey is a fan favorite, but I am forcing myself to look beyond the fan favorites and dig a little deeper. I’ve compiled my favorite necklaces from all over the internet - fine jewelry from artisanal creators, Esty vintage finds, and a few vintage Instagram dealers. And if you want to do your own browsing, Métier is a jewelry lover’s dream. They offer a mix of contemporary brands and artisans, as well as an expertly curated selection of vintage & estate pieces. And if you need stacking inspo, @henrydominiquejewelry on Instagram is the account to follow.
Ok, I think that’s enough. I got a bit carried away here, but who am I to deny you options and beauty? I hope you’ll join me on this journey of the artful curation of our neck stacks, be it with what you currently have in your collection, or with a few of the above additions. And if you end up buying any of these, send pics my way!
Loving all these. Flea markets and Etsy are fun for mixing it up. And I need to visit Metier in SF!!
The carabiners ! Bookmarking this - have just started to wear necklaces after decades of eschewing jewelry and I’m definitely still working on styling them
