It's been a low-key well-known fact whispered between editors and slipped onto the pages of Vogue for years now - leopard is practically a neutral. This is not news to the fashion moguls of the world. However, given how trend cycles work in today's world, leopard is about to finally have its moment for the rest of us. Before, it was a fur coat for winter, or a turtleneck layered under a blazer, or a printed horsehair for an elevated pointed-toe flat. Now? It's about to be everywhere. I'm talking jeans, button downs, tights, sweaters, literally whatever your fashion brain can conjure, it will inevitably be featured on your for you page.
But proceed with caution - this easily has the potential to compete with the micro trends of 2020 (I’m looking at you, checkerboard crochet everything). If this isn’t your usual style, maybe ease yourself into it with a pair of flats (which definitely aren’t going anywhere anytime soon) or a lightweight jacket. This print seems way more neutral when you wear it as it was intended - a fur (vintage of course) jacket for fall/winter as opposed to a printed jean.
Being the self-proclaimed thrifting queen and vintage sourcing expert, I have taken it upon myself to put together a comprehensive list of any and all pieces you may need to fully embrace this trend. So, keep scrolling if you have no idea where to start looking for a vintage leopard print piece to add to your closet. I am not insane though - I get that vintage/secondhand/thrifted/iconic is not for everyone. I sprinkled in a few smaller designers alongside the vintage - the smaller designers are truly thoughtful about their silhouettes, textiles, and buying from them makes the purchase an actual meaningful one. So, close that Zara tab and give your money to someone who actually deserves it.
